Ideas for using less Transportation Energy
  1. Today: Drive less agressively, don't let car idle
  2. This Month: Consolidate trips, Carpool, use public transportation, ride a bicycle, walk
  3. This Year: test drive a hybrid or electric car.
  4. Next Year: Replace your second car with an electric one.
Transportation Energy - Is easily harvested from the Sun

In 2007, Schultz Engineering started doing electric vehicle Research and Development. In 2011, we built the most efficient high-speed, commuter vehicle in the United States. It uses less than 100 Watt Hours per mile, the equivilent of over 300 MPG. So far, this prototype has went 10,000 miles using about $150 of electricity.

Here is a picture of the Delta-11 prototype parked next to solar panels at WMU in Kalamazoo (75 miles from our shop). I rode down there to learn about solar panels and to test ride the new Zero electric motorcycle. I knew the next Schultz Engineering project would involve solar energy.

We Recommend Electric Vehicles

The best cars and motorcycles built today are electric and by their very nature they are three times more efficient than the best fossil fuel vehicle.

Go to your local dealership and test drive an electric vehicle today. You will be amazed! They are very responsive, quiet and cost less per mile than a gasoline powered car.

While we'd all like a Tesla, it's definately in the luxury car price bracket. A more accessable car might be the Nissan Leaf.

If a motorcycle is more your kind of ride, then take the 2014 ZERO for a ride, absolutely guaranteed to blow your mind. Another proof that in the future, we won't buy electic vehicles just to save money, we'll buy them because we prefer their performance over gas powered vehicles.

Kraig's First Electric Car May 28, 2014

This 1990 Ford Festiva electric conversion fell into Kraig's possession through a solar energy contact for $2,000!

It's not glamorous, but it will allow 4 wheeled experimentation with V2G (Vehicle to Grid) for the Schultz Family.

Some useful information about electric cars.
