DELTA-12tm - High Performance Electric Motorcycle

DELTA-12tm is an all-electric tilting-trike (1 wheel in front and 2 wheels in back) featuring modular design.

It rides just like a motorcycle, "You forget it has two back wheels when you are riding it. It feels like a normal motorcycle, except it locks upright when you come to a stop and you never have to put your feet down. I didn't expect it to be so fast and quiet...It's really easy to ride; there is no clutch or gears to worry about, you just twist the throttle and away it goes!"

The vehicle can be upgraded from the base model, by installing different motors, batteries and bodies. The tilting axis can be locked and unlocked at any time giving the rider greater control, freedom and safety at any speed in various traffic conditions. The most unique feature of the vehicle is a seat that pivots allowing the rider to lower into the vehicle for better aerodynamics and comfort.

The Delta-Bike Systemtm

Planned Obsolescence? Who came up with that idea?

A better principle is to start with a simple vehicle that is fun to ride, and make it upgradeable. As technology changes, the owner should be able to swap and upgrade components to build an even better vehicle.

"A vehicle shouldn't wear out as it gets older, it should get better." Kraig Schultz Founder of Schultz Engineering, LLC

Schultz Engineering is building proto-types in preparation for bringing the Delta-Biketm series into production. The Delta series is a modular vehicle platform that is configured by the end user to match their needs. The front of the vehicle is common and all mounting holes are provided for bolting on optional configurations.

Note on Model Names:
A Delta-12 is a tilting-trike that has 1 wheel in front and 2 wheels in back (1 and 2 = 12).
A Delta-11 is a two-wheeled motorcycle that has 1 wheel in front and 1 wheel in back (1 and 1 = 11).

Delta-12 On the Road
Delta-12 is fast and very stable on the road. It steers and countersteers, just like a normal motorcycle. Designed to cruise at 55mph, it can carry enough batteries and cargo to support most commuting needs.

Video Showing Multiple Riding Positions
Multiple Seating positions = the most unique feature of the Delta-12. Ride it like a motorcycle, a recumbent or a Segway and change positions on the fly! It makes riding more fun with better comfort, safety and aerodynamics.

Video Showing Variety of Riding Options
All Delta-12 models come standard with reverse, parking brake and tilt-lock making getting on and off easier. It's great not having to worry about whether the kickstand will support the bike when you walk away (there is no kickstand). Just set the parking brake and this bike is not going anywhere until you are ready.

Video Showing Cargo Carrying Capacity
Duel rubber torsional axles provide a heavy-duty rear suspension for carrying lots of cargo and passengers on the Delta-12. On a regular motorcycle one must worry about tipping over during low speed and stop and go operation. The Delta-12's tilt locking and balanced design makes driving with a heavy cargo easy and fun.

Please note that the third person on this vehicle is added only to demonstrate the weight carrying capacity of the vehicle. It is probably not smart for a third person ride on the vehicle like this, and we certainly don't recommend that you have your children do this.

Video Showing Turning Radius
The Delta-12 electric trike has has a long wheelbase and a small turning radius. This makes the vehicle both comfortable and nimble.

Video Showing Upright Riding Position
Standing up. It is quite a rush to travel this way! Having no gears to shift makes it even more fun.

Video Showing Feet Forward Riding Position
Feet forward is the most comfortable and aerodynamic riding position.

March 1, 2015 - Installing a Ninja 250 Front End

With Plans to install some decent Chevy Volt Batteries it's time to upgrade the front wheel to something with better stopping power. This Ninja 250 front end will do the trick! Needed to make a new headstock. This one is another experiment in Weld-free construction.
